Costume 5K Race 

(Costume Optional)

 

Due to the success and excitement generated by our first Grassroot Soccer 3 v 3 tournament in April 2009, we wanted to increase the participation in the Grassroot Soccer cause and educate more people about the importance of the HIV/AIDS issue in Africa. So, we decided to organize a 5k race but not just any normal 5k race. This is a costume 5k race and it allows you and your friends to express yourselves while staying fit.

General Information:

 
Who: Everyone
What: A 5k (3.2 miles) race that allows you to dress up (Costume Optional)
When: 10:00 am – 10:45 am Saturday, October 10, 2009
Where: Sertoma Park  Get Directions
Why: Every $25 gives a kid a chance to live AIDS free
Donation: Minimum $10 donation per runner.
 
Prizes:
1st, 2nd, 3rd Place
1st, 2nd, 3rd Best Costume
 
Race Day Schedule:
9:15 am           Race Registration Begins
9:55 am           Race Registration Ends
10:00 am         Race Start
10:45 am         Race Finish and Award Ceremony

Rules:

  1. Costumes cannot be scandalous- in other words act as if your mom will be in attendance
  2. Costumes must not pose a danger to your or anyone else’s ability to participate safely in the event. (Eg: No running with a broad sword strapped to your back while holding a battle axe)
  3. Race officials reserve the right to bar you from the event without refund if they feel your costume violates these rules.
